Here’s what you’ll need:
- One piece of paper for every letter in your child’s name
- Crayons or markers
- Tape
- Magazines
- Glue
Here’s what you do:
- Ask your child to think of something that relates to the holidays and starts with the first letter in his name.
- If he has a hard time thinking of something, go through magazines and look for pictures to get ideas.
- Ask him to write the first letter of his name really big on a sheet of paper.
- Let him decorate it with pictures, objects, or drawings that begin with the letter. For example, if his name is Will, he may want to decorate the “W” with walnuts because walnuts begin with a “W”. He may want to draw pictures of walnuts on it, glue pictures of walnuts from a magazine on the “W”, or glue actual walnuts on it.
- Whatever he chooses (and you allow), continue with the remaining letters in his name, decorating each letter using one item that begins with the letter.
- When he is finished, tape the letters together to spell his name.
You can make name tags for Christmas dinner this way (on a smaller scale of course!). Remember, your child’s imagination is endless!
