Silly Homework Excuses (ages 5-10)

Here’s what you’ll need:

Here’s what you do:

  1. Write a silly story with your child about another child who is always giving his/her teacher unusual homework excuses. (Assure your child that he is too smart to use any of them!)
  2. Ask your child to use the word, “because”, in each sentence. For example:“Tim did not have his homework because a giant bird swept down and snatched it out of his hand.”
“Samantha did not have her homework because it rained inside her house last night and drenched it.”
  3. Talk to him about the causes and effects in each sentence.
