Diamante poems are fun for children to write, especially in October (see worksheet example):
- The first line is one word and acts as the title.
Example: October
- Line 2 has two words that describe the first word.
Example: Tenth Month
- Line 3 has three verbs ending in -ing that tell what the word in the title does.
Example: Falling Swooshing Cooling
- Line 4 has four nouns: the first two should be about the title, the second two about the opposite word in the seventh line (finish the poem, then write these two words last).
Example: Candy Pumpkins Spring Flowers
- Line 5 has three verbs ending in -ing that tell what the opposite word (in the seventh line) does.
Example: Swimming Sweating Fishing
- Line 6 has two adjectives describing the opposite word (in the seventh line).
Example: Warm Rainy
- Line 7 has one word that is the opposite of the title (in the first line).
Example: April
