Draw a large circle on a piece of white or yellow paper. (The circle should look like a full moon.)
Cut it out and write, “My ‘oo’ Book by (your child’s name)”. Remember to let your child write the letters and words that he knows.
Trace the circle on five to ten sheets of paper with the same color.
Cut all of the circles out.
Go through several picture books with your child and look for words that have “oo” in them.
Each time you find an “oo” word, ask your child to write it down on a blank circle and draw a picture to match the word.
Ask him to read the word. Write only one word per circle.
Staple all of the circles together with the “My ‘oo’ Book” on top. (Your pages may read something like, “moon”, “room”, “broom”, “raccoon”, “monsoon”, and “balloon”.)
Invite your child to reread his new book as often as he wishes.
