Summer Hunt (ages 3-7)

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Your child’s favorite picture books
• Pencil
• Paper

Here’s what you do:

1. Remember to read with your child during the summer.
2. Let your child pick the books that interest him.
3. After reading several of your child’s picture books, briefly explain to him what a proper noun is.
4. Go back into each picture book and have him hunt for and write down all the proper nouns, including the names of the authors and illustrators.

Picture book suggestion:

• The Story of Ferdinand
  Author: Munro Leaf
  Illustrator: Robert Lawson
  Publisher: Viking Juvenile
