Predicting on a Rainy Day (ages 3-6)

This is a fun activity to do on a rainy day while snuggled up with your child.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  1. Before reading a new book for the first time, look at the cover with your child and ask, “What do you think this story is about?”
  2. Next, go through the pages with your child and let him tell you what he thinks the story will be about.
  3. Read the story with your child and praise him for the correct predictions that he made.
  4. If his predictions were not correct, praise him for a good try and assure him that his reasons for predicting as he did were valid.
