Flashlight Stories (ages 3-10)

Children especially like flashlight stories around Halloween. To read flashlight stories, you simply need to be in a semi-dark room with books and a flashlight. Some children like to read stories with a flashlight under a blanket or under a tent made from blankets, tables, or chairs.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Here’s what you do:

  1. When the lights are turned down or off, crawl into the tent or under the blanket with your child and turn on the flashlight.
  2. Shine the flashlight on a book and read it using a lot of expression.
  3. Take turns reading with your child and encourage him to read using different inflections.
  4. If you wish, you can check out books about Halloween or the dark (and ones that are not too scary) and read them with the flashlight.
