Here’s what you’ll need:
- Paper
- Pencil
- Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
Here’s what you do:
- Draw a picture of a silly imaginary farm animal with your child. (Example: A cow with a chicken’s body might be a “Chickow”.)
- Talk to your child about what his animal would say, how it would eat and walk, and what a farmer would use it for.
- Under the picture write, “This is a _____. It goes ‘____’”.
Other ideas:
- Write down as many animals as you and your child can think of. Next, write down what each animal says. For example, your child could write, “The chicken goes, ‘Cluck, cluck.’ The pig goes, ‘Oink, oink.’ and, The cow goes, ‘Moo, moo.’” Illustrate each sentence after it has been completed.
- Read the completed book with your child. Afterwards, talk about all the different jobs a farmer has to do during the day.
