This game is best played with a child and an adult helper.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Here’s what you do:
- Spread several ABC cards in front of the child letter-side up.
- Say to the child, “We are going to play a game called, ‘Who can grab the letter first?’ I’m going to say the name of a letter in front of you. After I call out the letter, I want you to try to grab that letter before I can.”
- Say the name of one of the letters. Give the child a chance to grab the correct letter.
- Continue the game until all of the letters have been called. Practice with both upper- and lower-case letters.
- If the child knows all of the letters, play this game by saying the sound that a letter makes instead of the name of the letter.
