Big, Small, Fast, and Slow Letters (ages 2-6)

Here’s what you’ll need:

Here’s what you do:

  1. Go outside on a beautiful day with your child.
  2. Call out a letter and ask your child to write it really big in the air with his index finger as he says the letter.
  3. Ask him to write the same letter as small as he can.
  4. Using the same letter, ask your child to write it fast and slow, each time saying the name of the letter as he writes it in the air.
  5. Make a game with this activity by writing the letter with him in the air, seeing who can write it faster, slower, smaller, or bigger.
  6. Repeat this activity with all of the letters.  Concentrate on the ones with which your child is having trouble.
