When complete, this book is a great resource for a child who is having trouble learning all of the letters. If, for example, a child keeps forgetting the letter “w”, you can get this book out, turn to the “w” page and say, “Look! You know the letter ‘w’. You wrote a whole page on the letter ‘w’. Let’s read this page again.”
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 26 sheets of paper (any color)
- Markers, crayons, or colored pencils
- Plastic binder, stapler, or hole punch and yarn
Here’s what you do:
- Bind the 26 sheets of paper together.
- On each sheet, ask your child to write the upper and lower case characters for one letter of the alphabet, starting with the letter “A”.
- On the first sheet, ask your child to think of something that starts with the letter “A”. If, for example, he says, “A is for apples,” write: “A a is for apples.”
For example:
- For “B” your child will think of something that describes something special to him that begins with “B”.
Example:
A a is for animals. (Child draws pictures of animals.)
B b is for bluebonnets. (Child draws pictures of bluebonnets.)
C c is for calves. (Child draws pictures of calves.)
.
.
.
Z z is for the zoo. (Child draws pictures of the zoo.)
